                                                         Hero Analysis

In this book by Homer, there is a main character, Odysseus. He portrays odysseus as a hero that is

emasculated but still brave and strong. Homer creates sympathy for odysseus through Poseidon's

violent storm attack. Homer makes odysseus prove himself a strong and courageous hero with alot of

great power. Odysseus is not only portraded as brave, strong and powerful but also as strategist.

Odysseus has many herioc qualities such as, bravery, patience and intelligence. He is also a loyal,

maybe not to his wife but to his family and country. But just like every other hero he has some bad

unherioc qualities such as, deceitful, trickster, and sometimes excessive pride. But odysses is an

overall good hero.

These flaws that he has affect his journey is various ways. His excessive pride makes the gods

become angry with him. The gods then create major obsticles for him to make his journey harder for

him to go through.

Odysseus is an not an overall ideal hero during his journey. One reason is because in the end he

realizes that a man is nothing without the Gods, he learned a valuable lesson but heros dont need to

be taught a lesson, they should be teaching other people lessons. He has too much pride and thats

why his journey was made so difficult for him.
